When winter comes
‘Kimchi’ is a special food for Koreans. I do not enjoy eating ‘kimchi’ but always feel an amazing sense of community from the food that is on the table all the time. Although not seen much as time goes by, the scene of making ‘kimchi’ together that naturally comes to mind when winter comes surely means the same thing.
What makes ‘kimchi’ special? Is it because it’s a fermented food, or because it’s nutritious and good for our health? These are probably the additional reasons. Perhaps layers and layers of various memories and emotions have piled up to develop a sense of solidarity. This documentary started from here.
