Silver Tripod Award For Best Story and Jury Award
Chris K. Daniels is a 20 year old filmmaker from Boston, Massachusetts. He's been writing, directing, and acting in shorts for about six years now. Chris tends to focus his work on a sort of dark, conceptual view of twists on reality. He likes to bring forth an interesting form of 'what if' question, and answer it in the form of a narrative short.
Chris is currently a student, on track to get his Film/Video BFA in Boston, Massachusetts.
Chris is an award-winning, festival-featured filmmaker. Some of his notable honors are the winning of the Silver Tripod Award and the Jury Award at Campus Move Fest for two consecutive years in a row (2017-2018,) the Best Film Award at New Artists Film Festival, and Film of The Month two consecutive months in a row on Indiemand.co.uk. On top of that, Chris' short "You Must Be Artificial" is a part of the official selection for The Short Film Corner at the Cannes Film Festival 2018.
All-in-all, Chris loves to create. He's a young man passionate about making movies to the best of his ability. He hopes to make movies for the rest of his life.
"When Mentioned" is a piece about trauma, humanity vs. technology, and about acceptance in order to move on. The piece follows two young men, who seem to have had some sort of close friendship. Though as the story develops, the truth in the actual situation comes to light, and we see that there's something dark and traumatic interfering in on the two. This causes one young man to be stuck in this form of endless, repetitive cycle of remembrance. With that, I wanted the other friend to serve as a form of emotional anchor, trying to ground his internally lost friend back to reality. I wanted the human element between the two to come to life, on top of the twisting, breaking technological reality around them.
