What's Cooking in the Kitchen?

A young woman, who has been struggling to find a job for months, sees a help wanted sign at a dilapidated restaurant. She decides to give it a try, hoping to earn some money and improve her situation. However, as soon as she enters the restaurant, she realizes that something is very wrong. She is greeted by a TV that plays a series of bizarre and unsettling tapes, each presented by a different masked manager who represents a stereotypical manager personality: Wrath, Greed, and Apathy. The woman is told that she must wear a giant mask that covers her entire face, which is supposed to make her look less tired and more happy. Between each tape, the woman hears horrifying noises coming from the kitchen, each time becoming louder and louder. After the tapes finish, she's instructed to go to the backroom to get her own mask and sees the faces of the employees, who are injured and deformed. The woman thinks about leaving but realizes that due to the job market, she has no other choice, and reluctantly puts on the mask.

Director Biography - Marie Mancini, Jacob Mayhew

Hello everybody! My name is Jacob Mayhew and I’m the writer and co-director of this project. I’ve written and directed my own short films with a repertoire of completed scripts that have yet to be shot. I’ve been working since I was legally able to so I’ve definitely seen my fair share of crappy managers and work environments. I’m really excited to share what we’ve been working on for the better part of the year with everyone!

Hello Hello! My name is Marie Mancini and I’m co-director, and production designer of this wonderful film! For this film, my main goal is to create a film with a relatable story, showcased through unique visuals! The visuals I’ve created are quite elaborate yet I am dedicated to the art of production design, and know I am capable of completing this awesomely difficult task!
