Director Biography - Megell Strayhorn

I'm Megell from the West Suburbs of Chicago. I got my start in filmmaking near the end of 2018 so I'm still new to this side. With so much to learn, what I know for certain is I was meant to have a camera in my hands. Currently creating in PHX, AZ.

This film was necessary to create because it could have been ME. "What if it was You" represents the times we are living in.
This was filmed on the first day of protesting in Chicago following the George Floyd incident. I'll never forget filming in that environment because of the amount of unity collected amongst all walks of life.
The ending features footage of my actual relatives as they are called out. I did this to give the viewer an opportunity consider how their lives would be effected had it been one of their own.
Lastly, the B&W touch was added as a way to visualize that we're fighting the same fight as our ancestors and we must continue to do so.

Thanks for your time.
