Director Biography - Katia Shannon

Katia Shannon writes and directs heartfelt stories about love and adversity for film and TV. She was selected for the 2020 cohort of the Netflix x BANFF Diversity of Voices Initiative.

Her latest short film, Standstill, premiered at the Calgary International Film Festival in 2019 and was selected at HollyShorts 2020, Edmonton International Film Festival 2020 and Fantasia 2020 among others. The atmospheric thriller was also nominated for an EDA Award at the Whistler Film Festival and continues to make its way on the festival circuit.

Katia holds a BFA in Film Production from the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema where she was recognised with an award for outstanding achievement in filmmaking.

She also worked on several Hollywood productions, as acting film commissioner for the region of the Laurentides, and as an editor of award-winning documentaries (Me The People, Mental States, My Quiet Revolution), with her work broadcast across the USA, Canada, the UK and in festivals internationally.
