According to Dario Argento, “Horror is like a serpent; always shedding its skin, always changing. And it will always come back”. Bruno Sereno aims to find this snake and tame it for his will.
Born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, Bruno has always been fascinated by stories. From an early age, he immersed himself in movies and books filled with terrifying creatures, fantastical characters, and futuristic worlds, sparking his passion for storytelling.
Horror, in particular, quickly became his favorite genre. Watching films like The Ring and sharing scary stories around the campfire made him realize the power of fear as a shared experience and how monsters can reflect real-world issues. This curiosity led him to Centro Universitario Armando Alvarez Penteado University (FAAP), where he graduated with a Communication degree specializing in Marketing. During his studies, he deepened his love for writing, researched the nuances of pop culture, and had the opportunity to write, produce, and direct a health-related podcast,”Pod Falar Fig”. The desire for knowledge led him to travel, doing volunteer work in Australia and Israel, where he met people and heard their stories. Now he is fluent in English, and Portuguese and is working his way to learn Spanish and Hebrew.
Bruno wrote several horror short stories such as “No I Didn’t Kill My Girlfriend” and “Under the Shadow of the Sphere” for competitions, successfully publishing five in various anthologies such as “Escabroso” and “Brunoverso”. Inspired by Evil Dead, Dracula, and Pet Sematary, he pursued screenwriting and moved to Canada to study at Vancouver Film School. There, he wrote multiple horror and sci-fi screenplays and wrote, produced, and directed his short film “Phantom Frequency” which is set to debut at several film festivals.
Bruno is expanding his storytelling into books and comics, establishing himself as a versatile and innovative writer. Now, his goal is to craft horror movies that blend classic concepts with modern ideas, guiding this ever-changing serpent, sliding dark paths that will for sure be scary but also a hell of a lot of fun.
