Director Biography - Mercy Manuels

“Director Mercy Manuels grew up in Ekiti State, Nigeria and moved to Lagos state at the age of 21 to gain some more experience in film making after school. Upon graduation, she later moved to the city of Ibadan, Oyo State where she was privileged to work with a number channels belonging to different Direct to home (DTH) satellite network service providers where she got to co-direct various shows. After working as a crew member on several shorts in college, and post graduation this film 'What Now?' is her directorial debut. She also co-owns the platform 'AfriBURN' and her main career goal is to direct a feature film for a major production company as well a other projects already in the works.”

Director Statement

Throughout the world, people are going through unthinkable things. Some have found ways to live on or survive the worst life has thrown while others didn't make it through.
Some people in this world have this need growing inside of them to tell their stories. Someday, I see myself working on projects that cut across the globe and to make this happen, my team and I took it upon ourselves to start from our very immediate environment. So, we began with the stories that would potentially heal and give hope. And now I find myself digging deeper into stories that are true and helpful. This was a real challenge and I hope an audience finds it satisfying as this is very important to me.
