Marcos Bermúdez. Born in Quito, Ecuador-1997. Scholarship recipient to study filmmaking at Universidad de las Américas. Director and editor of People Talk Because They Can (2017), an experimental short film of a rebellious portrait of our immediacy society. Director of photography and editor in Clara (2018), a representation about the processes of senility and the forgetfulness of loved ones. Best Ecuadorian short film, Ficq 2018. Director, cinematographer and editor in To Welcome is Love (2019), an awareness campaign documentary to deal with strong xenophobia in Ecuadorian territory, especially towards Venezuelan people. Winner of the FERA Lucero Award and SIMN del Plural Award + Youth Video Festival of the United Nations Organization - UN. Director, producer, editor, sound and music designer in What Are We (2020), a split-screen story about the relationship we have with time and our memories. Winner of Best Editor of the NNISFF 2021, Best Latin American Experimental Short Film at FiaFest 8, Best Film at FECEA 2022 and still on the festival route, having passed through Hungary, Turkey, Russia, England, United States and México.
Inspired by my grandmother and how we all can remember our memories, not only the foward way, but also backwards, or both at the same time. Because time is just a thought.
