Weightlisted (2019)
“Weightlisted” was created during the 2019 Syracuse Summer Film Intensive in an attempt to shed light on 'heaviness in Hollywood.' Shinder's experiences as a professional actor have given him an inside look at how most overweight actors/actresses are cast as the funny, fat friend opposed to the heroic, romantic lead. Therefore, Shinder created "Weightlisted" in order to not only poked fun at the literal ‘cattle calls’ of show business, but also to address the stereotypical ‘fat shaming’ that is more prevalent now than ever.

From an early age, I’ve enjoyed employing comedic devices, such as physical life and improv, to gain an emotional reaction. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate enough to hone my craft by working with and learning from some of the comedic best of the best. Perhaps the greatest example comes from my time on set with director, and former SNL Head Writer, Fred Wolf, where I learned the importance of creative collaboration. While on set for Wolf’s film, Drunk Parents, I was able to share and expand on my creative visions, specifically while improvising with my on-screen uncle, Alec Baldwin. Because of Wolf’s constant encouragement and collaborative workspace, my career goal shifted to not only wanting to act professionally on stage and screen, but also to develop as a professional filmmaker. Therefore, I’ve chosen to study Film in school rather than majoring in Musical Theatre. In conclusion, my career aspiration is to expand upon my skills in order to portray comedic stories through film.
My goal as a professional actor turned filmmaker is to expand upon my pre-existant skills and to enlighten audiences while portraying comedic stories through film.
