Hollywood is where people have come to make it in the industry since the birth of the entertainment industry. We are not just the home of actors, writers, directors, and producers of all shapes and sizes, we are the home of the industry itself. Everyone who’s anyone has a presence here or wish they did. People from all walks of life, from all over the world, come here to make it. No matter how big they are in New York, Chicago, London, Honk Kong, YouTube, or Rome, they always come to Hollywood to make it worldwide. Hollywood is where artists come to own their greatness. It’s the place where stars are born. And so we are proud to announce the genesis of the WeHo Screenwriting Competition.

Who could’ve imagined that the orange groves that once covered the LA Basin would one day be covered by production companies and talent agencies of all shapes and sizes. West Hollywood is literally at the epicenter of film, television, and media. Every major studio has a presence in Hollywood and they always have: from RKO in the old days to our current system and that’s not going to change with the democracy of the internet taking over our viewing habits. YouTube and Yahoo are already taking over high rises that were once occupied by networks. And just like the studio players before them, virtually every major Social Media Influencer has Hollywood representation or wish they did. When the studio system came down, nobody knew what would come next. When the independent film era took over, nobody knew what would come next. And now that Social Media is taking over, again nobody knows what’s going to happen next.

We would like to help bridge that gap by discovering the world’s next generation of stars. We are actively seeking out the next generation of great writers of all shapes and sizes in any medium. And so we are proud to announce the launch of what will eventually become a full fledged Film Festival.

Again, we are a new festival that is actively looking for content so if your stuff is good, submit it. And hopefully someday soon you’ll be calling our tiny community of artists home too.

Our city has hosted every major awards show for close to a century. From the Oscars to the Emmy’s, they all started here. And so we are proud to launch the Competition. Where we not only recognize established talent, we are also a launch pad for emerging artists of all shapes and sizes regardless of age, race, or color. Any and all writers, actors, actresses, comics, vloggers, and influencers are welcome to submit and if your work is good, we will showcase it.

Our streets are lined with gold for some and heartache for others. Our goal is to help you wind up on the right side of that divide. West Hollywood is where everyone who’s anyone comes to make it in film and television. We want to support emerging undiscovered talent. We want to give talented people the world over the opportunity to be heard and to inspire those around you and around the world. We want this to be a launch pad for talented writers and influencers much like American Idol and The Voice are for singers and songwriters.

We also believe in a little thing called opportunity. So you don’t have to be rich or connected to receive our recognition, you just have to be talented. We’re not looking for people who’ve already made it. We want to find people who have the talent, but just can’t catch a break. We want to be that break. We want to give our winners the recognition they need to be seen. We want winning our competition to be that first big break. We want to be known as the festival that finds the best people first.

This is a Cinema Public House production. We are a US based independent festival company that produces festivals all over the world.

Our community is all inclusive and so is our contest. It is one of the original safe spaces of the gay community and people of all ethnic backgrounds. We are made up of people from anywhere and everywhere and are receptive to people from anywhere and everywhere. West Hollywood is a crazy community of successful artists as inspirational, diverse, and dynamic as the art it showcases, so too is our festival.

We love art, artists, and all forms of media. So send us something good, give us something to talk about, something we can’t stop talking about, something we can’t keep to ourselves, something we have to share, something we want to show at our morning meeting, and ultimately our contest.

We are a new contest actively looking for new and original talent. People blessed with originality that need to be seen and heard. People who want to leave their mark on the world who deserve to be remembered and will be remembered. So if you have the talent to tell compelling, original stories via film, digital media, or the written page submit yours today.

We want to reward our winners with a platform for their work to be seen by the entertainment industry as well as recognition online and throughout the business. We reward our winners with consultation packages provided by Roadmap Writers. Our grand prize winner receives three consultations with top talent managers and or development executives in the industry including one with an hours worth of script notes. Our top two finalists also receive at least one personal consultation each. These introductions can be invaluable to writers. We also award industry recognition based on the project. So if you wrote a comedy, we will introduce you to executives working in comedy and if you wrote a thriller, we'll introduce you to people who work in that genre and so on. Semi-finalists are only awarded with laurels and recognition like in most competitions.

2020's grand prize winner received a consultation with a top talent managers and production executives at First Friday Entertainment, Kersey Management, and Tradition Pictures.
