Director Biography - Ario Motevaghe


Ario Motevaghe was born in Tehran, Iran in 1990. He studied theater in high school and later on found his passion in Cinema, proceeding to study Cinematography major in Soore University.
As a cinematographer, he filmed forty-two short films including “Magralen” which took part in the Short Films Generation Kplus section of Berlinale festival 2019 and “Endorphin” movie which won Special Mention award in Leopards of Tomorrow section, Locarno International Film Festival 2013.
He also filmed and directed many promotional teasers since 2011. Previously he had written three screenplays and two plays, and “weekend” is his first experience as a movie director.

Director Statement

Humans love watching, if they come across a spectacular scene.
Throughout history and till this day in many parts of the world, countless people found watching violence in the shadow of the law or their beliefs, entertaining and even so essential that they even encourage their children to do so. “Weekend” movie represent part of Iran’s society that count observing certain forms of violence necessary for them and their children.
