We are an ecosystem, a journey through the human microbiome
"Most of our world inhabitants are hidden to our view. However, they have a tremendous importance for all ecosystems, including us. We are a world for the microorganisms that live with us, called microbiome. Let's explore our inner world, a microscopic world that connect us and between us!"
To raise awareness of our microbiome and its importance, we did an exhibition that invite the audience to think and reflect on our human being as an interconnected ecosystem. The video in this application is an audivisual adaptation of the sumarized guide tour as short documentary. To our knowledge, this was the first microbiology exhibition in Chile and one of the few in Latin America. This novel project brings together science and art in a transdisciplinary exhibition in Antofagasta in northern Chile. In addition, BIPoC women and queer people were the core team of this intersectional project. To achieve the target community in the region, the global and current knowledge was approached under a local and territorial scope. The topics included microbial ecology, individual-microbiome relationship, vaccination and COVID19.
This project made in Chile and it was funded by the programme Ciencia Pública 2020, from the Chilean Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation.
