We Surf the Same Waves
Israeli surfer and peace activist Arthur Rashkovan always dreamt of sharing waves with his neighbors. They are only 60 km away and yet unreachable: They live in Gaza. Through his organization "Surfing 4 Peace", Arthur helped to establish a surf scene in Gaza, hoping to connect on a peaceful ground. But since October 7, that dream is shattered to pieces. Will the boundless ocean give Arthur consolation?

Dörthe Eickelberg shot elves (on film) in Iceland and told jokes (as a German) in Canada before graduating at Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. In Berlin, while hosting her own satire web series, the European broadcaster ARTE hired her to host the daily science show XENIUS. Meanwhile she co-founded the production company LABO M and started lecturing at film schools in Ludwigsburg, Berlin, Shanghai and Mumbai. Her passion for surfing lead her to produce and direct the award winning documentary CHICKS ON BOARDS, followed by her book “The next wave is yours”, published at Penguin.
My project CHICKS ON BOARDS brought me to Israel and Gaza several times, I have friends and colleagues on both sides of the corner. Right after the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7th, I connected to some of my former protagonists again.
