Director Biography - Zhanara Nurbekova

Nurbekova Zhanara Nurbekovna was born in 1996, on October 24 in the city of Naryn in Kyrgyzstan. From 2003 to 2014 she studied at the gymnasium named after V.P. Chkalov in Naryn. In 2014, she entered the Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University in the Department of Radio Television and Cinema in Bishkek. From 2017 to 2018, she studied at Selcuk University in Turkey with the Mevlana exchange program. While studying at the university, she worked as a project manager in various production studios and practiced in cinema mainly as an assistant director or casting director. She managed to work in commercial advertisements and social videos as a director. She also directed the mini animated series "Children of the Sun". The main and most important personal creation at the moment is her debut film "Water".
In her spare time, she loves to hike and climb mountains. In 2018, she became the Mountaineer of Kyrgyzstan by conquering Komsomolets Peak. On October 10, 2020, she got married, now she and her husband are expecting a baby. She loves running, together with her husband they participate in various marathons and collect medals. In addition to outdoor activities, they like to lie at home and watch movies.

Director Statement

In my film, I wanted to touch on the topic of ecology, namely clean water, unobtrusively, through the eyes of the same clean little rural boy. I would like that after watching the film, the audience will awaken a sense of nostalgia for childhood, into pure feelings like love for nature, like daydreaming and a childish desire to discover something new. And continue to enjoy life and small things, despite external global changes and internal conflicts
