Wamdah - a Journey to the future

WAMDAH is a VR storytelling experience of Odai in his tireless quest towards finding his lost brother. After his brother’s disappearance, Odai’s world changed. He made it his sole mission to journey on the shores and dunes of the kingdom to find his brother and bring him home. Step into Odai’s world, interwind between recollections and discoveries as he captures some of the most beautiful places in Saudi Arabia, regaining his lost passion along the way.

Director Biography - Abdullah Ba Mashmos

Abdullah Ba Mashmos is a Technical Director who focuses on Spatial Computing, Virtual Reality, and Game Development. He enjoys teaching at a variety of non-profit organizations aiming to increase awareness of immersive tech. He is the founder of Hakawati Studio, a game, and interactive media development studio.
He has developed Hakawati Games which is a platform of animated playable stories for children with the vision to create a safe play environment and support healthy active kids. Lately, he has Directed a VR interactive film called Wamdah - Journey through the desert

Director Statement

Saudi Arabia is filled with wonders that people in this world have not witnessed yet. With Wamdah - Journey to the future, I can introduce the Saudi culture, family, people, the nations that lived in the Arabian peninsula, and the wonderful places in a beautiful story about a man who embarked on a journey to find his missing brother.
I am a Software Engineering specializing in VR Interactive Development. I enjoy storytelling and I enjoy creating the wow moments using technologies. We choose Virtual Reality as a medium for Wamdah to enable the player to fully immerse themselves in the experience.
In this piece, we introduce the shift that happened in the kingdom from the past to the future using the atmosphere shift between the hot, sunny Riyadh to the cold, snowy mountains of Tabuk. Thus, we can let the player experience Saudi as they have never experienced it before.
