Director Statement

The protagonist in this film is based on a real person in my life, who is a first-generation Chinese migrant worker, running a dry-cleaning shop in London on her own. She is a warm and enthusiastic person from the first time I met her, however, when we talked about her family and her life in London, she always deliberately made up some obvious lies and kept repeating the phrase “All good. I have a perfect family. And we love each other so much” Her self-concealment, however, inspired me and made me more curious about her personal life. I cannot help wondering what kind of relationship she has with her child and her husband. What does family mean to her? Since I could not find the answers directly from her, I got down to doing a lot of research about this community and drafting a story about her.
