Walls
Seeking to reveal each movement not only from the perspective of beauty, but also from the internal density, ‘’Walls’’ breaks the boundaries between ordinary and stage movements and explores their infinite profundity and interconnectedness.
''Walls'' combines contemporary dance, poetry and original music, which have been created from the inspirations emerging from surrounding life; movements, voices, noises, chaotic and nonstop life.
It is the revelation of the movements of surrounding life through their transformation into contemporary dance movements. There is the reflection of the war, pandemic, and human indifference towards the pain and loss of others.
The movie has been created within the framework of the program ‘‘CULTURE IN MOTION‘‘ – Regional Mobility Fund of the Goethe-Institut-Eastern Europe and Central Asia in 2021.

Tsolak MLKE-Galstyan is an Armenian choreographer, director, painter, dancer, playwright, art manager. He is the Co-founder and Artistic Director of the MIHR Theatre - the first contemporary dance company in Armenia. Founded in 2003, MIHR is an award winning company that has performed throughout Europe, the Middle East and North America. Tsolak has been an Open-air and Special Events Manager and Curator of Dance Platform at HIGH FEST International Performing Arts Festival in Armenia since 2005. He has been an IETM member since 2009 and became a member of the Creative Armenia-AGBU Network in 2020.
He is the author of the innovative project: ‘’Music of Movement’’. The project is based on the idea of using alternative musical instruments, created by the MIHR Theatre, for making sounds from the dancers' movements: music is created through movements and reveals the sound of dance.
In 2021 Tsolak directed and choreographed the contemporary dance movie ''Walls'' within the framework of the program ''Culture in Motion: The Regional mobility Fund of the Goethe-Institut Eastern Europe / Central Asia''. MIHR theatre has participated in the Internationale Tanzmesse NRW in Dusseldorf, Germany with the site-specific contemporary dance performance ''The Song of a Refugee'' in August, 2020. He has directed and choreographed the dance movie ''Love, Sex & Movies'' written and produced by the Australian-German writer Fiona Leonard, which has been Commissioned by the Reading Fringe Festival, UK with funding from Arts Council England and premiered at the Reading Fringe Festival in July 2020.
Tsolak has been dancing for 30 years including traditional Armenian dancing, Latino-American, classical and since 1998, a focus on contemporary dance as both a dancer and choreographer. He has choreographed more than 20 contemporary dance, site-specific, emotional dance, inclusive dance, action-painting, physical, open-air and drama dance performances and innovative projects.
I always experiment and seek for the new ways of the creative expression for my artistic ideas and problems which I consider important to be talked about through art and dance. I try to widen the borders of the contemporary dance by breaking already accepted standards and experimenting with form and content, engaging also national motives, themes and dance forms. As an artist it is very important for me to express what I want on a more sensual and emotional dimension.
