Wall of the Roses
High on the fells of northern England, two old adversaries are keen to maintain a historic boundary.
- In these times of division and uncertainty, through the prism of an age-old rivalry Wall of the Roses looks at identity and pride, intolerance and prejudice.

Born and brought up in the north of England Andy Clark now lives in London and is primarily a screenwriter. Currently working on a couple of feature-length projects, he has several more in the pipeline but is as yet unrepresented.
Pleased with a short film script he had written, Andy was keen for it not to remain stuck on the page so despite having no previous film-making experience and a non-existent budget, he managed to get enough together to produce and direct Wall of the Roses (2023), which will hopefully be making its debut at a festival sometime soon.
I'm so glad I got to direct Wall of the Roses, it being one of the first screenplays I wrote, but I don't see myself as a regular director as I have Parkinson’s and physically things are getting a little shaky! I'm a writer and writing's what I do best.
Wall of the Roses was written as a standalone short, but I'm now in the process of writing a feature-length screenplay which introduces the two characters' families. As well as relationships and rivalries it is about racism in the rural community and is called A Gift from God.
