Robert Asencio is a proud artist from New Jersey with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre from Kean University. The greatest lesson acting has taught him is the importance of self reflecting on one’s own experiences in order to bring characters to life on stage with truthfulness and empathy. Robert is also a dedicated musician (Bass player), visual artist, and filmmaker. He’s played and performed with an array of Heavy metal bands in the Tri-State area and has honed his skills over the years at his beloved Hellhound Studios in Rahway, NJ. As a visual artist, Robert credits Jean Michel Basquiat as his greatest inspiration. He has showcased his art work at the James Howe Gallery (Kean University), Newark School of the Arts, and Atelier Rosal (Rahway, N.J). Robert‘s love for films has inspired him to write screenplays and explore the technical aspects in film. His most recent film KNIGHT has received numerous Film Festival Selections which include the Garden State Film Festival (NJ), Queen City Film Festival (NJ), and Independent Shorts Awards (LA), where his film won an Honorable Mention Award for Best Drama Short. His continued study of directing, cinematography, writing, editing, lighting, music, visual arts, and acting. Has fed his artistic life with an everlasting joy that he is very grateful to have found. Ultimately, he believes that all artists must strive to build a deep personal relationship with their art forms.
Wallet was inspired by a true event. I was at a concert with my brothers and we were having a great time! Then during the last song of the concert. I became consumed with excitement and decided to crowd surf. It was a beautiful moment being carried by the crowd as I sang along with great joy! Then when I was eventually set down to the ground reality hit. My wallet was not in my pocket. I would then go down a spiral of events attempting to try and find my wallet in a crowded concert hall with no success. However, thankfully I worker there would contact me the next day and return my wallet back which brought me great relief to say the least. The whole ordeal would go on to inspire me to write this film. In its creation I wanted to express the thoughts that were running through my mind during that loss. Which helped me cope and made me realize how fragile life and we really are. Ultimately, the greatest gift this introspection taught me was to cherish your loved ones because life is fleeting.
