Walk

‘Walk’ is a short music video made to accompany Irish electronic duo Lakerama's hit single of the same name. It deals with the emotions of two lovers as they address their relationship in the wake of a presumed conflict. We witness them as they process a series of feelings and thoughts about one another and their relationship status, while gradually moving towards an agreed meeting place where they will confront each other.

The lovers, played by Yesunia Appiakorang and Timmy Creed, cast a somber light on the idea of a lover’s stroll. We sense their anxiety about meeting one another and the conclusion that will be drawn from it. While there seems to be some deeply affecting discourse between them, there is also a sense of their affection and history together. This is reflected both in their dream state, in reminiscing and dreaming, and in their physical walk to meet one another. They are both awoken by some looming, enticing but sinister presence which hints at what they will come to face later in the song. This force is represented by the allegorical role of a water nymph, performed by Andrea Williams, who lures them into the water like a modern day Oshun.

The themes in the song are romantic and partially influenced by the Cork promenade; ‘Lovers Walk’. The video explores the various ways that lovers walk, together, or singularly, towards a positive or negative outcome. In this scenario, the subjects are challenged by a supernatural force, which shifts their dynamic and presses them to discard their calculated behaviors for their instinctual feelings for each other.
