After 26 years working in the currency trading world, I made the move into film and television in 2014 with the documentary film, Life Challenge Kokoda, which was released in 2015 on Channel 9 in Australia plus EMTV in PNG, TVNZ in New Zealand and Virgin In-flight Entertainment.
From that project I developed a passion for the industry and the desire to release my own narrative features in the future.
COVID may have slowed my entry into the industry but not my enthusiasm. I have a bunch of screenplays in various stages of development / packaging but wanted to learn more about the actual process of making films - which led me to this short film, Wakehurst Parkway, Australia's Most Haunted Road.
As a writer who has fallen in love with the industry after a career change from finance 9 years ago, I wanted to make a short film where I had to learn everything from lighting to cameras, to directing and editing and see how I went.
I was told the urban legends about the Wakehurst Parkway in Sydney (not far from where I live) one night and when I decided to make a short film it seemed like the perfect idea to explore.
I deliberately did as little research as my curious mind would allow to come up with a fresh take on the stories and have always been fascinated by mental health, lucid dreams, ghosts and the afterlife.
I hope you enjoy our short film.
