Director Biography - Titouan Le Gouis

After his father shared his love for cinema with him, Titouan Le Gouis quit his studies in engineering to focus on making movies. First, he experimented with videos he posted on YouTube, detailing albums he loves. This naturally led him to 3is, where he embraced the challenge of concepting a short film. Wai(s)t (Bassin(s) in French) is his directorial debut.

Director Statement

The process behind this short film was all about winning things back. I wanted to embrace the intricate relationship I've always had with masculinity, in an environment that feels both familiar and distant to me: The only sport I've ever liked to practice was swimming, until I couldn't, following doctor's orders.

My biggest hope is, on somewhat of a more naïve path, to inspire young people like me to follow their heart, both in love and activities or studies. Never do what other people want you to do. Just wait for the right moment, and take a leap of faith.
