Experiencing Interruptions?

WOMAN

To be a black woman in America often means to be marginalized, criticized, ostracized, and generalized. This piece is a collaboration of black women embodying what it feels like to be monitored and having to sensor who we are. We are fighting against the barriers that minimize our feminine power due to what the color of our skin represents. Despite these challenges, black women continue to surpass the boundaries that are set to diminish our strength. "Take Me to Church," metaphorically symbolizing 'take me to a safe haven' where together, we can rise above the things that are built to deter us.
