Being an amateur sounds like an insult, does it not? Well, not at WIPE Milan Amateur Film Festival. We do things differently here. This festival seeks to spotlight the raw, passionate, and unapologetic work of Milanese filmmakers who embrace the spirit of amateur cinema. We believe that being an amateur means being as real as it gets, an unfiltered expression of vision, creativity, and, sometimes, sheer chaos. And isn’t that where all great art begins? At WIPE Milan Amateur Film Festival, we don’t worship polish, we celebrate imperfection, experimentation, and originality.

PHILOSOPHY

WIPE Milan Amateur Film Festival builds on the philosophy of its global inspiration: a
film festival where the obscure, the quirky, and the bold take center stage. For this inaugural edition, we turn our focus to Milanese creators, those who find beauty in rough cuts, who dare to dream without the pressure of perfection, and who embrace amateurism as both a process and an identity.

There are no awards at WIPE MILAN, but filmmakers can bring their own if they like. Here, what matters is the experience: the joy of sharing a screen, watching images flicker, and feeling the pulse of Milan’s grassroots creative scene. After all, every cinematic legend started as an amateur. And if they didn’t, they probably became
redundant.

Rules & Terms

There are only two requirements for the participants
- NO FILM EDUCATION and a film length of fewer than 21 minutes.
Genre, format, and other formal and technical characteristics
(except English subtitles - they are necessary) are unimportant.
