In a swamp on the outskirts of Sicily, against the backdrop of the petrochemical chimneys of Augusta, lives a group of pink flamingos. From this outpost over the city, the birds watch as man grapples with his curious atrocities. Every day, amid general indifference, the flamingos stage a surreal display that goes unnoticed. What are they trying to tell us?

Director Biography - Diego Pascal Panarello

Diego began his career with the Psycho Freak Explosion collective. Documentary editor for RSI, the Swiss Italian television. Author for Sky, Mediaset, Sony and MTV, he mainly deals with musical specials. Producer of Diabolikal Super Kriminal (Netflix). He collaborates with the artistic collective Alterazioni Video (Venice Biennale). Composer of electro-acoustic music and creative consultant for various artistic and commercial projects.
The Strange Sound of Happiness is his best film.
He dreams of music.

Director Statement

I love making cinema starting from authentic people who play themselves or a little variation of them. My approach is documentary style and I aspire to poetry.
In all of my works, the sound is the backbone of the narration.
