The Wait-A-Minute Film Competition gives participants the opportunity to complete a film of one minute in length. This year's WAM is particularly exciting as it challenges contestants to create a film, with the given Genre of Sci-Fi or Horror, however you must give the film a RETRO vibe or look! Also you are required to include a homemade prop that must feature prominently in your film. Think: The Necronomicon from Evil Dead, or the VHS tape from The Ring. Etc. Welcome to the 5th annual WAM film competition and screening. WAM! (Wait-a-minute) Because... yes you guessed it, films are only 1 minute long.

As an added bonus for our participants, 20 of the best films will be shown on the big screen at the Blue Mouse Theatre in Tacoma WA as part of Friday Night Frights program.

This event is hosted by Friday Night Frights and Tacoma Film Alliance.

Prizes awarded to Best film, Audience favorite and Best use of prop.

The competition starts Sept. 1st 2018 and ends on Oct. 31st 2018. Films must be turned in on or before Oct. 31st 2018

Films must be of the following genres. Horror, Sci-Fi, and may be implemented as a trailer, short, music video, Anything! But!

1) They must have a Retro theme or vibe. 1950s-1980s.

2) Must include a homemade prop that features prominently in your film.

3) Must be one minute in length!

Note: Films must be rated PG13 or below. R and X are not acceptable.

The screening will take place at the historic Blue Mouse Theatre (2611 N. Proctor St Tacoma WA 98407), on Nov. 16th at 10pm, presented at the beginning of the Friday Night Frights program.

Entry fee is $5.00

All films are Judged by the Tacoma Film Alliance Executive Committee and Special Guest Judge. Tacoma Film Alliance reserves the right to not screen entries not meeting certain criteria. Filmmakers retain all rights to their films. Do not use copyrighted material. All material in your film/s must be your own property or public domain.

The Return of the WAM Film Competition is open to all Tacoma, WA area filmmakers as well as the rest of the United States.
