WALD the forest

The metamorphosis of landscapes is depicted in a mesmerizingly evocative manner. Well-documented are the facts, statistics, and imagery that shed light on the consequences of climate change.
Location: the Harz Mountains in northern Germany.
Since 2018, a series of unusually hot dry summers has unleashed the destructive force of the bark beetle upon the spruce forest a consequence of monoculture forestry practices and global warming. Only spruces minimally affected by the infestation can be be fallen for construction timber.
Through a consistently artistic rhetoric of visuals and sound, this film endeavors to render the profound and dramatic transformations of landscapes in a magical and tangible form, inviting viewers to embrace a fresh perspective and embark upon a suggestive journey of discovery.
