The League of Women Voters of Cortland County and the League of Women Voters of Tompkins County are sponsoring an exciting contest with prize money. Middle/Jr.High and High School students in Cortland and Tompkins counties plus Tompkins Cortland Community College students are invited to create a Public Service Announcement (PSA) promoting youth voter registration and voting. Winning PSAs will be aired on radio, TV, and other media.

This is an exciting opportunity to share your enthusiasm for registering and voting at a critical time in USA history through audio and/or video PSAs. Be creative with an announcement that will get young adults and the public to register and vote.

Audio - Submit a 30 second audio PSA (128Kbps, AAC 2 channel stereo) along with written script.


Video - Submit a 30-45 second video (H.264, mp4 maximum bitrate: 2200 Kbps & maximum height of 720 pixels

Consistent with the League of Women Voters bylaws, entries should "...not support or oppose any political party or candidate.” Submissions should encourage the public specifically young adults to register and vote.

Submissions should be within the time limit specified for audio and video PSAs.

Entries become the property of the League of Women Voters of Cortland County and
League of Women Voters of Tompkins County. Upon submission of entry, contestants
agree to give the Leagues permission to use an entry for online, radio, or TV publicity,
