Volumes
Volumes is an abstract short film that considers the symbolic content of the swimming pool. Often thought of as a trapping of affluence, real or pretended, and inviting a kind of hedonistic attention to the body, the pool is, for many in the West, a symbol not of affluence but of order - of perceived control over what is inherently fluid. As such, Volumes uses the pool as a captured body of water to consider how we influence and in turn are affected by the spaces we inhabit.
"Water is important to people who do not have it, and the same is true of control." - Joan Didion, 'Holy Water' 1979

N0 R3PLY is a creative partnership between Azul Bermudez and Sen Vanderzalm based in Naarm / Melbourne, Australia. The primary focus of N0 R3PLY is the flux between culture, material and language. The pair’s output takes on many forms, with their recent endeavours being exhibitions, art events, installations and film production. Prioritising collaboration, Azul and Sen opt to work with other creatives to bring their projects to fruition. Not only does this extend the breadth of what N0 R3PLY can achieve, but it also aids in fostering a community minded arts landscape based on connection and the exchange of ideas.
'Volumes' is Sen and Azul's directorial debut.
