Visitors

Jen awaits the arrival of her three friends and hopes to rekindle their relationships after a shared tragedy. The group is apprehensive to enter the house, becoming more concerned after hearing strange comments from Jen. Once it is made apparent that there is no longer a strong connection between members of the group, desperation and anxiety grip Jen and send shockwaves throughout her home, physically manifesting and sending her friends on their respective spirals. Despite individual attempts to change the situation, they are unable to alter events of the past.

Director Statement

Visitors was created in the aftermath of the creative drought of quarantine and while we didn't want to address the pandemic specifically, the themes of isolation and grief carried over into the script. The main drive in beginning this project was seeking connection and collaboration with other like-minded and enthusiastic people and shaking off the insecurities of such a long time off. We put special emphasis on seeking talented cast and crew members with limited experience and a desire to develop and hone their skills in new ways. All of our actors had limited on-screen experience, we had many crew members in positions they had never filled before, and I myself had never taken on a project of this size. It was daunting, and nerve-racking, and an ultimately beautiful experience I wouldn't trade for the world. My hope is that Visitors offers people a moment outside of their daily lives to question what they believe about love, the afterlife, and their own (potentially toxic) coping mechanisms in a short, but cathartic closed loop.
