Virtual O'Brien Awards Gala Reveals More Details
Standardbread Canada is preparing for the official 2021 Virtual O'Brien Awards Gala, a highly anticipated celebration of horses across Ontario. In a recent statement regarding the upcoming online awards ceremony, the leader announced who will host the event. Greg Blanchard and Jason Porto Aeon will take care of everything during the changing gala on Feb. 6.
Ontario's racetracks have one event that can easily be compared to the Academy Awards in both its importance and splendor. The first day of February will soon see the latest edition of the event, which usually welcomes people in colorful tuxedo and gowns. This year we will have a chance to enjoy the award because it is streamed online for everyone to enjoy.
The fact that this event is online doesn't have to discourage people from posting photos of themselves with certain hashtags so that they feel like they're part of the community. Now we also know who the organizers of this special event will be. Mr. Blanchard is the head of sales and retail operations for the Western Fair area.
Riders know and love him and his work ethic for many years, and he was the other two hosts of the O'Brien Awards Gala with a co-host. This happened in 2010 and 2015. It's no secret that Mr. Blanchard has decades of experience in local horse racing, but he has also served as a TV presenter and media communications manager at Woodbine Entertainment.
He also had the honor of hosting Bet Night Live on The Score. On the other hand, Mr. Portuondo will be co-host of the O'Brien Awards Gala for the sixth consecutive year. He is a member of Woodbine's broadcasting team, but has also dedicated the past two years to the weekly edition of Racing Night Live.
The 2021 Virtual O'Brien Awards Gala will begin at 8:30 PM ET on February 6, 2022. The theme of this year's event is Boots & Bling, which will inspire virtual attendees to wear nine costumes in a high-end country style. Boots and stones and boots can be worn for photos to be taken and uploaded with the #obriens20 hashtag.
In the summer of 2021, Standardbread Canada announced that there would be some changes to the O'Brien Equestrian Award. The group's board of directors approved the proposal at a recent meeting. The change is about several conditions that determine the winner of this famous horse racing honor.
Ontario Racing is once again gearing up to sponsor the Media Excellence Awards at the 2021 O'Brien Awards Virtual Gala. Three awards categories - excellent written work, excellent video, film or broadcast, and excellent photography. This year, Ontario Racing will partner with StandardBreed Canada to sponsor the event for the sixth consecutive time.
