Violet

Feeling like an outsider, Violet ends up being drawn towards a peace lily plant that makes her feel happy but later gets sad by her parent's negligence. Emotions worsen when her classmates and friends make her feel out of place, leading to a mental breakdown. Violet stares and fantasizes a simple but joyful life with the peace lily which leads to her to accept herself slowly with the presence of her plants.

Director Biography - Ianne Leoncio


Julianne Deigh R. Leoncio, also known as Ianne Leoncio, is a 3rd Year Digital Film student at Mapua University who is part of the film production, H288 Films which has produced films such as ‘Cut/Off’, ‘Maudi nga Arapaap’, and ‘Kiss Don’t Tell’ that has claimed multiple awards and recognition. She won Best Production Design for the film 'Cut/Off' in the 2022 Sinepiyu Film Festival and was nominated twice for Best Production Design on the films 'Cut/Off' and 'Maudi Nga Arapaap' for the 2023 CineMapua International Student Short Film Festival. She also directed student short films for her class such as a documentary film 'My Art Hear', an experimental film 'Ilab', and a narrative film 'Violet'.

Director Statement

One of the hardest things to take from all our years in school is to accept that sometimes in life, we don’t need to rely on other people to be happy. From one who sees themselves as a wallflower turns into a person blooming with grace, ‘Violet’ tells a story of growth and acceptance to one’s self. A journey where the character discovers that even though not many would acknowledge it, there are other things that can make you have the best things in life.
