Vincent is a young mountain farmer who shares his life on social media.
Caught between modernity and tradition, in a life he didn’t expect for him, he is forced to step into someone else's shoes, taking on the responsibility of the family business. It's a journey filled with challenges, where life and death weave together constantly.
This is the story of shattered dreams making way for new opportunities, a young man fighting to carve out his own place in the world.

Incastrato tra modernità e tradizione, in una vita che non aveva previsto, si trova costretto a vestire i panni di qualcun altro, facendosi carico dell’azienda di famiglia. Un percorso costellato di sfide, in cui la vita e la morte si intrecciano costantemente.

Director Biography - Noemi Pisano, Francesco Rey

Noemi e Francesco are a couple in life and work. Francesco was born in 1995 in Aosta. In 2018 he graduated in cinematography at the ESRA Côte d’Azur in France, and since then he has been working as a camera operator and director of photography. Noemi was born in 1994 in Aosta, she is a midwife who is passionate about the world of movies; she attended a screenwriting and photography course. Opportunities arise for them to work together on small independent productions, and the desire to challenge themselves with a personal project emerges. "Vincent" is their first documentary short film as co-directors.

Noemi e Francesco sono una coppia nella vita e nel lavoro. Francesco nasce nel 1995 ad Aosta, nel 2018 si laurea in direzione della fotografia presso l’ESRA Côte d’Azur in Francia, e da quel momento lavora come operatore e direttore della fotografia. Noemi nasce ad Aosta nel 1994, è un’ostetrica innamorata del mondo del cinema, frequenta un corso di sceneggiatura e di fotografia. Arrivano le occasioni per lavorare insieme su piccole produzioni indipendenti e nasce la voglia di mettersi alla prova con un progetto personale. Vincent è il loro primo cortometraggio documentario in veste di co-registi.

Director Statement

ENGLISH

We decided to tell the story of our friend Vincent because we were fascinated by this young influencer who works as a farmer and cheesemaker.
As we stepped into his world, we realized that beyond the contrast between modernity and tradition, there was way more to explore: the delicate thread between life and death, the challenges of becoming adults, the need to take on unexpected responsibilities.
To visually represent the contrast that characterizes the protagonist's life, we decided to pair a modern camera with vintage lenses from the 70s. The rest was a challenge, Vincent never stops, and it was up to us to keep filming with him without hindering his work, between 4:00 AM wake-up calls and sudden births, often handheld, adapting to different lighting situations.
Vincent teaches us that, no matter what happens, we should carve out our own corner of happiness.

Abbiamo deciso di raccontare la storia del nostro amico Vincent perché siamo rimasti affascinati da questo giovane influencer che lavora come allevatore e casaro. Entrando nel suo mondo abbiamo poi capito che oltre al contrasto fra modernità e tradizione c’era molto di più, il labile filo tra la vita e la morte, la difficoltà del diventare adulti, la necessità di farsi carico di responsabilità inaspettate.
Per tentare di riproporre anche visivamente il contrasto che caratterizza la vita del protagonista, abbiamo deciso di abbinare ad una macchina da presa moderna delle lenti vintage degli anni 70.
Il resto è stato una sfida, Vincent non si ferma mai, stava a noi rincorrerlo senza intralciare il suo lavoro, fra sveglie alle 4:00 e parti improvvisi, quasi sempre camera a mano e adattandoci alle situazioni di luce.
Vincent ci insegna, qualsiasi cosa accada, a ritagliarci il nostro angolo di felicità.
