Victoria Mariño Fernández (Cáceres, Spain) holds a degree in Communication Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid. Since 2011, she has resided permanently in Mexico, where she has worked as an editor, additional editor, and lead editor in several audiovisual formats: advertising, TV programs, series for digital platforms, short films, and documentary and fiction feature films.
In fiction series, she has edit Si fueras tú (If You Were You) (Playz, 2017); Historia de un crimen: La búsqueda (Story of a Crime: The Search) (Netflix, 2020); ¿Quién mató a Sara? (Who Killed Sara?) (Netflix, 2020); Horario Estelar (Primetime) (Disney Channel, 2021); El poder de los girasoles (The Power of Sunflowers) (Disney Channel, 2022); Lotería del Crimen (Crime Lottery) (Prime Video, 2022); and Harina (Prime Video, 2023).
In feature-length fiction, we should mention Gloria by Christian Keller (six Ariels and fourteen nominations at the 2016 Ariel Awards), Animales Humanos by Lex Ortega (2019), El Amarre by Tamae Garateguy (2019), Sal Azul by Alejandro Cervantes (Official Selection at Ficmonterrey 2024), Yo vi tres luces negras by Santiago Lozano Álvarez (two nominations at the 2024 Berlinale), and the short fiction film Ecuaciones Corpóreas by Tabatta Salinas, for which she also worked as executive producer, which was selected at the Shorts México 2016 Festival.
Regarding documentary formats, we should highlight the short films Extranjeros and Topos, both directed by Fernando Guisa and part of the documentary series La Bandera (winner of the Black Canvas Contemporary Film Festival 2018). Also worth mentioning are the feature-length documentaries El viaje de Ximena by Pau Ortiz (in post-production) and Rabbit on the Sky by John Keith Wasson (currently in editing).
In her directorial debut, the short documentary Barricada, for which she also serves as producer, screenwriter, and editor, she depicts how the feminist movement is threatened by reactionary policies growing relentlessly in the current international scene. This work pays homage to feminist movements that resist through action. Barricada was made possible thanks to the collaboration of Catedra Bergman and the UNAM Film Library and received Honorable Mention at the latest edition of the Docsmx 2024 Festival.
