Director Statement

Victoria was my first short film. I had just started film school, and everyone was sitting around talking about "waiting and see how it goes" before they did their first project. I spoke to a few upperclassmen who were freaking out because they were close to graduating and had nothing to show for it. Then I remembered the advice of a friend who had graduated a film school already. He said, "Do projects, make sure you take advantage of the equipment and the school while you had it." In that moment I said, I'm doing a project right now. I hadn't even had a directing class yet.
One day, I was walking through the school halls and saw the poster for Maleficent and I looked at Angelina Jolie's eye, just her eye and took a picture. I was inspired. The idea for Victoria was born. This is why when you watch the film, you see the focus I put on Victoria's eyes.
This has been my most successful film yet and when I made it, I had the least experience but the most fun.
