Eres Seer is a visual artist currently based in Cardiff, Wales. She graduated from Dartington College of Arts in 1995 with First Class Honours in Visual Performance, and from Cardiff School of Art & Design in 2001 with a Masters degree in Fine Art. Since then, Seer's work has been exhibited widely, nationally and internationally. She has undertaken a number of commissions and residencies: at Oriel Mostyn, the Welsh School of Architectural Glass, HANGAR Barcelona, and the BBC. Seer has received several awards and prizes, including the prestigious Leverhulme Trust Award. She is currently a recipient of a Creative Wales Award.
A constellation of spatial themes has emerged over the course of my artistic practice, concerned with the politics and poetics of space, and memory and history in relation to place. As a politically-engaged artist, my work responds as much to contemporary global conditions and events as to the resonances of a specific place or site. Arising from this territory, and inextricably interwoven through it, are questions about the nature of time, reality and consciousness.
