R. Scott Leisk is an award-winning American film director, screenwriter, and producer. Scott was born in Florida but grew up in Houston, Texas. At an early age, he was interested in filmmaking and played around with his parents Super 8 camera, making home movies. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BS in Radio, TV, and Film (RTF). While attending college, he was inspired to become a filmmaker after studying the films of the great French and Italian filmmakers of the 1960s. It was then that he saw the potential of film beyond just entertainment as an art form.

He wrote and directed the dramatic short film entitled 'Last Night I Fell Again'. The film garnered enthusiastic reviews for its interesting take on a relationship and praise for its visual style.

His first feature film, 'Mahogany Sunrise," is a stylistic, lovers-on-the run tale with themes of greed, chance encounters, and pursuing your dreams. The film won a Platinum REMI award in the Action/Adventure category at the 47th annual WorldFest Houston International Film Festival. The film had its international debut at the 6th Underground Cinema Film Festival in Dublin, Ireland.

His second feature film, 'Colossal Youth," is a coming-of-age, romantic comedy drama. The film won the Audience Award for Best Picture at the 24th San Antonio Film Festival 2018 and enjoyed a limited theatrical release in select US cities, Tokyo, Japan, and Sofia, Bulgaria.

His latest film, 'Velocity Girl', a character-driven coming-of-age drama. The film was released limited theatrically in 2023 in the US and is being submitted to the festival circuit.

As a Producer, he produced many award-winning films that are available on major streaming platforms like Peacock, Apple iTunes, Tubi, and Amazon Prime. He has written multiple screenplays that are in various stages of development and investment. His screenplay 'Hacienda' was a 2018 Page International Screenwriting Awards Quarter Finalist. Director Statement

Filmed in San Antonio and Hondo Texas, Velocity Girl is a character driven story about a troubled teen whose mother gets thrown in jail and she's forced to live in a small town with her aunt and uncle whom she's never met. It's also a redemption story for Earl and his wife Tammy who lost their daughter tragically to leukemia getting a second chance at being parents to their niece Chloe.

Part of my inspiration for this film comes from my own experience of growing up in the big city of Houston, Texas, and going to visit my grandparents on their small farm in Colorado. The stark contrasts of each place helped create lasting memories, from enjoying the city late at night to the serene, vast rolling plains of north-eastern Colorado. The title Velocity Girl comes from a Primal Scream song of the same name, which fits well in describing Chloe as a troubled teen going nowhere fast, and the lyrics of the song are actually sprinkled throughout her dialogue in the film.
