Veins of the Country - A story by Aboriginal elder Mervyn Street
This is a short film about the vitality of the Fitzroy River, in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Mervyn Street, a senior Gooniyandi Aboriginal man, uses his art and storytelling to talk about the rhythms of water and life in the creeks and in the river. He also explains how the river is central to Indigenous people of different languages who live in the catchment, and are connected by water flows.
