Vanessa is a video artist and painter based in Melbourne, Australia. Her work is focused on the gestures that a body makes generating visceral impact which has striking psychological effects in making meaning tangible through intentionally conspicuous, legible acts of making and recording. In addition to training in dance and improvisational theatre, Vanessa has a Masters in Fine Art from Sydney College of the Arts, a Post Graduate Diploma in Animation and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Victoria College of the Arts, Australia. Vanessa has worked extensively in film and television, including as a visual effects artist on the feature film The Matrix and TV SBS. Her film 23° WEST won Super Short Film Best Cinematographer at the AltFF Alternative Film Festival 2019 and screened at the Adelaide Arts Festival 2018, Finalist in The 65th Blake Prize, twice finalist for Portia Geach and Hurford Hardwood Portrait Prize. Her work is in the Australian Artbank collection. International and national art residencies include SIM Iceland, NG Art Residency France, Bundanon Trust and Hill End Australia.
