Vanessa Beck is a California native and began her filmmaking career as an on-set production assistant on the feature films The Amazing Spiderman, and The Green Hornet. After completing those projects, she became a producer and director assistant working on several studio feature films and tv shows including; X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse, The Internship, Westworld, and Silicon Valley.
After learning physical production first-hand, Vanessa was inspired to begin formal filmmaking education through the UCLA Extension program, taking classes in directing, producing, writing, and production finance.
Her first short film, Isobelle, has received recognition for best short film, best cinematography, best actress, best screenplay, best first time director, and best female director. It is currently in competition for the 2025-2026 festival season.
