A passionate writer who is successful at executing personal creative work, and developing expansive ideas that range from novel to screenwriting. Valentina Weil is working towards her MFA in Creative Writing. She is ambitious, attentive to detail, and considerate of character growth/emotion on the page.
Aiming to write stories that break the mold of traditional film, she brings in characters that are dynamic and complex with the goal of best representing the parts of the human experience that are often overlooked.
Her original feature script, Ruth, has been a Grand Prize Winner at the Vancouver International Women in Film Festival (2023). And has place as a Top 3-Finalist in Final Draft - Big Break Screenwriting Content (2023). For two years in a row, it was part of the top 10% of considered scripts in the Academy Nicholl Fellowship Screenwriting Competition (2022, 2023).
Ruth has placed as a quarterfinalist in Emerging Screenwriters Screenplay Competition (2024), Creative Screenwriting Unique Voices Screenplay Competition (2024), Outstanding Screenplays Feature Competition (2024), ScreenCraft Competition (2023), Creative Screenwriting Screenplay Competition (2023), Table Read My Screenplay - Hollywood (2023), and Page Turner Screenplays First 15 (2022). It was also a semi-finalist in Page Turner Screenplays Genre Competition (2022), and it was officially selected in Best Script Award - London (2022), Oxford Script Awards (2022), and Tokyo International Short Film Festival (2023).
Her second original feature script, Red Handed, has placed as a semi-finalist in GEMFest International Screenplay Competition (2024), and a quarterfinalist in Page Turner Screenplays Genre Competition (2023).
Her original half-hour pilot, Plastic Jesus, has placed as a semi-finalist in Creative Screenwriting Unique Voices Screenplay Competition (2024).
