Abedengo Chanda bio
Abedengo Chanda is a member of the Zambia Youth Federation from George Compound in Zambia. He is an active member who leads the 'Know Your City TV' segment under the Zambia Youth Federation. To date, he has contributed to the mobilization of 600 youths beyond his community, who are actively participating in advocating for social justice and climate justice. Abedengo Chanda led 16 passionate youths from the Zambia Youth Federation in establishing Climate Stewardship Clubs in Lusaka schools. These clubs are meant to create spaces for students to harness their talents in advocating for climate justice and innovating to develop local solutions.
Abedengo Chanda is a professional photographer and editor trained by the Slum Dwellers International Know Your City team. Such skills have enabled him to document challenges, community-led processes, and locally-led solutions in informal settlements in Zambia. Through his contributions to a number of KYCTV programs in Zambia, the wider federation, which consists of women, persons with disabilities, and other marginalized groups, has seen an increase in the number of partnerships, including the Energy Poverty Alliance with People in Need.
