Director Statement

This is my first film as a director. I read the poem that inspired it during the initial days of lockdown. Viewing many fine movies to overcome the isolation of the period, gave me the mood and perspective to convert the central idea of the poem into a screenplay for a short film.
With a mother ailing from dementia and a young child to be cared for, alongside household chores and a demanding 'work-from-home', protagonist Krishna's daily life is stressful, driving her to helplessness and despair. Through one morning in their life, the movie shows how, when challenges close in on her, the primary cause of Krishna’s anxieties can become her solace. It is this wonderful moment of the poem that fascinated me and became the anchor for the script.
The story is set against the backdrop of Covid, depicting the lives of three people who experience utter isolation when confined within the walls of an apartment. The husband, though not a character in the poem, was featured as an invisible presence in the film, to deepen Krishna’s sense of despair. People suffering from dementia are like children, and the film tries to convey a message on their need for love and care.
All the people involved in the making of the film, except the technicians and the actors, are members of my family, hence ‘BIG FAMILY PRODUCTION’.
