Upon His Image
Faceless God dreams up a Man. Within the screening of that Idea arise seven gifts that he bestows to his dream.
The gifts to tear the image of a Man apart from the image of a God.
As those gifts and how he accepts them make him like God, or rather like Animals they are symbolized by.
Man, born similar, given the seven gifts of seven deadly sins wakes up to the World now... In his own likeness.

Born in Dubrovnik, Croatia on 01.08.1996.
Jakov finished grammar high school and then proceeded to study Animation at Zagreb Academy of Fine Arts.
Aside of Animation he graduated bachelor degree for New Media.
Studies were finished with Rector's Award of excellence for the work on animated scenography behind the Opera Cosi Fan Tutte.
From young age he was exposed to experimental movies and contemporary artistic expression as he was raised by his parents, both Academic artists.
Through his formative years he was a part of school film and animation clubs, as well as competing on national level in literary forms.
From there he progressed to studying Animation, with focus on classical expressions of the media, whether alternative or standard 2D.
During his 3 year studies he created several exhibition installations for New Media, as well as worked on collaborations like yearly „Projekt“ in Močvara with contemporary artists. Collaborations within the curriculum culminated in 1 week workshop with Tim Allen, the master of stop-animation.
His main subject was 2D/3D animation. Through his work on curriculum designed projects, to eventually working on his first personal animated short on his third and final year.
The project titled Na Sliku Svoju(Upon His Image) is his first festival ready movie.
I originally started working on this film from the desire to illustrate iconography of the Seven Deadly Sins.
But as I progressed through my work I felt that a movie which doesn't have anything to say hardly has anything to show.
Idea of the nature of sin, and how we are given them as a gift came eventually.
Behind the classic catholic imagery infused in each separate sin I designed a Father God and a Human in a colored contrast.
Faceless God that shaped us in his image gives us seven ways we are unique/separated from him.
Sins that are usually darkness and rot are now colorful, flowing images of animal spirits.
Each linked by a color, animal, and cyclical nature of its immortal presence in human history.
So through the seven gifts of seven choices we are finally made upon our own image.
What I consider this movie is a simple vision of a complex matter, devoid of dogma or religious insinuation.
I hope the underlying message; "We are not given the ability to choose to sin, we are given the ability to choose not to, and thus we are human." remains merely a hint under the personal feeling a viewer may retrieve from this film.
