Tribute to Ali Sadpara | Untold K2 Summit
Ali Sadpara climbed K2 along with his 21 year old son Sajid (who also climbed K2 in 2019) along with Icelandic climber John Snorri and Chilean climber Juan Pablo and left the highest camp on the night Sajid had to go through. February 4, 2021 due to damage to the oxygen regulator, causing the rest of the team to experience K2 resistance near the summit. Snorri and Pablo continued their ascent to the top of K2 but did not return overnight as planned and were reported missing on February 5, 2021. On February 6, 2021, a rescue mission with two Pakistani army helicopters was organized to search for the team.
On February 18, 2021, Pakistani authorities announced that the three men were officially believed to have died, but the search for their remains would continue. The Sadpara family announced he died the same day.
