Untapped: Closing America's Opportunity Gap

America is known as the land of opportunity. Yet for many in this country, opportunity has grown more elusive than ever. As the viability and benefits of secondary education grow more debatable, and the opportunity gap grows wider, the future of America’s workforce, corporations and economic standing are at stake. Through the prism of our nation’s foremost business leaders and young Americans seeking a brighter future, “Untapped" explores the state of corporate America and its role in these issues, including an increasing shift away from traditional (entry-level) credential-based hiring practices. “Untapped” follows the individual journeys of Year Up students as they undergo rigorous training for entry-level internships at Fortune 500 companies. As they face challenges and triumphs, we uncover the subtleties accompanying soft skills and reveal what it genuinely takes to enter America’s corporate workforce, regardless of one's socioeconomic background.
