Director Biography - Linda Nelson

Linda Nelson is a Settler Ally who has the privilege to live on Treaty No. 1 and unceded Dakota Territory, the ancestral lands and waters of the Anishinaabek (Ojibway), Nehiyaw (Cree), Anisininew (Ojibwe-Cree), and Denesuline Peoples, the homeland of the Red River Métis.

Linda is an award winning Producer specializing in live event productions for television including opening and closing ceremonies, awards shows, concerts and more.

Linda worked with and supported the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, producing Concerts for Survivors in Inuvik and southern locations. She directed the Closing Ceremonies of the Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls attended by the families, the Prime Minister and other stakeholders in Gatineau, Quebec. Linda edited twenty episodes of the series Taken. During the COVID outbreak, Linda wrote and produced the virtual opening ceremonies for Qaumajuq - the Inuit Art Centre at Biindigin Biwaasaeyaah/Winnipeg Art Gallery - and a documentary, available on CBC. Linda is presently leading The
Sacred Hoop Program, which offers production training and support to youth who are becoming the next generation of leaders and producers at the Manito Ahbee Festival.

Linda has a background in journalism and current affairs and holds a BAA from Toronto Metropolitan University. In addition to live production she has written and directed documentaries, entertainment series for television, marketing campaigns and videos.
