Overwhelmed, Nomzamo breaks down, but finds strength to confront her past. With newfound determination, she rebuilds her sense of self. Nomzamo’s journey is a powerful exploration of trauma, resilience, and healing. In this poignant 2 minutes drama, Nomzamo’s silence is finally broken.

Sabelo Khomo began their journey in filmmaking in 2019, while in High School, inspired by influencial films such as Avengers 2012, Avengers Infinity War. The Russo Brothers are the directors who I look up to.

• AUTHENTIC is a short film by Sabelo Khomo that tells the gripping story of a young gay man, struggling to find acceptance in a hostile community and rejected by his own father, who casts him out. With nowhere to turn, he finds solace in the arms of his loving partner. But as he rebuilds his life, the scars of his past refuse to fade.This film is a heart-wrenching exploration of identity, family and the undying human spirit.

Through a minimalist yet evocative approach, I sought to create an intimate and emotionally charged experience, drawing the viewer into Nomzamo's inner world. The 2-minute format allows for a focused, visceral exploration of trauma's impact, making the film a powerful catalyst for reflection and dialogue.
