Shruti Marathe is an Indian American girl born and raised in West Windsor, NJ. Growing up in a district with a major Asian population, it wasn't until college that Shruti experience the feeling of being the only Indian person in her class. Shruti's experiences growing up inspired her to create films that make people feel like they are not alone. She aims to tell stories that illustrate the nuance within personal identity. Her latest film, Unshaved, captures the struggle of identity for a teenage Indian American girl. She hopes others can see themselves in it so that they, too, know they are not alone.
