Director Statement

Any love story can be released almost every week, but a special kind and an extraordinary love story is sort of one in a million chance. When I read the synopsis at the early stage, I fell in love with the story right away as I considered the story to be one of a kind.
The story has to do with the past & future at the same time, and the theme that wrap the film entirely is the fear of moving on, especially when knowing the future is already within grasp.
This is what the story's main character has to dwell. She lives at the present time with certain fears from the past because of her knowledge about the future. The title itself connotes to two things that supported the entire concept of the story.
From the original title in Indonesian, Mantan Terindah, "Mantan" (the former or The Ex) certainly has to do with the past. The past always relates very well to memory. On the other hand, "Terindah" (The most beautiful) does represent the future, the hope. Thus, the title itself claims once again the irony of the story.
Lastly, by presenting the film, I simply want to make a different to the audience as giving the audience a remaining question to be answered about love and predestination, especially when you are caught in between.
